| Samenvatting: | This article analyzes different scholarly and political perspectives on Chile’s new identity, which is strongly based on its commercial success. Its world view, institutional and policy factors that ensure governability and continuity in the course of its international engagement, have made it different than its “neighborhood”, that is to say, the region which is sometimes perceived as unstable. It is clear that the adoption of the commercial paradigm does not mean that territorial questions have lost their significance to its foreign policy, rather, there is a Chilean identity constructed between the two models. |
