| Summary: | This article is about the health related needs of women at midlife and their experience with health care services in Costa Rica. Most problems mentioned by the women of the study were diseases common for elderly persons such as hypertension, diabetes and osteoporosis. On the other hand, symptoms generally associated with menopause, such as hot flushes, sweats and insomnia, were hardly described. Finally, they spoke about the need of programs and specific policies related to their health problems. |
