El coaching es una de las técnicas gerenciales que ha alcanzado un gran auge como arma competitiva en el sector empresarial internacional en las últimas décadas. Esto motivó el análisis del coaching, desde una perspectiva epistemológica, con la finalidad de conocer su basamento teórico y científico. Se realizó una revisión teórica sobre dicha técnica, determinando su perspectiva ontológica, gnoseológica y axiológica. Se concluyó que el coaching utiliza y traslada elementos del área deportiva al área empresarial, como una búsqueda de alternativas que contribuyan a mejorar las actividades organizacionales. Sin embargo, la misma no contiene rigurosidad teóricocientífica, como para considerarse como paradigma o disciplina.
