Based on this analysis, we intend to show some of the mechanisms by which these imaginaries produce ways of being and thinking about the country while erasing and making others invisible. |

Este artículo analiza el conjunto de factores históricos y socioculturales que han posibilitado la producción de imaginarios sobre Costa Rica como el “país verde”. Para esto, en un primer momento, se realiza una aproximación al contexto social y político en el cual se establece el denominado “mito verde”. En segundo lugar, se indagan las representaciones del paisaje natural en algunas campañas publicitarias de la Marca País Esencial Costa Rica. Finalmente, se contrastan los imaginarios de la excepcionalidad verde con la realidad socioambiental del país. A partir del análisis se pretende mostrar algunos de los mecanismos mediante los cuales estos imaginarios producen unos modos de ser y pensar el país, al tiempo que borran e invisibiliza otros.
