Este artículo considera los conflictos entre sectores campesinos acerca del uso derecursos naturales, tales como bosque y madera, en la Península de Osa, localizada enel litoral del Pacífico Sur en Costa Rica.Se analiza distintos puntos de vista de actores sociales y políticos, entre elloscampesinos, instituciones gubernamentales y organismos no gubernamentales. Laprincipal conclusión plantea que los conflictos no llegarán a su fin si los actoreslocales, nacionales e internacionales, no buscan acuerdos básicos inscritos en unaestrategia de desarrollo rural sostenible. La búsqueda debe encaminarse a resolverlos principales problemas y necesidades planteadas por la población, en torno a larelación conservación y desarrollo.
