To achieve this, different normative documents (such as laws, bills and resolutions) were reviewed through critical discourse analysis theory. El artículo analiza la construcción discursiva sobre la familia en Costa Rica en el período 2000-2019. Se hizo una revisión de documentos normativos (leyes, proyectos de ley, resoluciones,entre otros) desde el análisis crítico del discurso. Se concluye que existe un consenso político entre neoliberales y fundamentalistas religiosos que mantiene vigente la versión conservadora de la familia nuclear fundada en el momento del matrimonio heterosexual y que tiene como principal mandato la procreación, responsabilidad que recae esencialmente en las mujeres.
