Sumario:This article analyzes the discourse built around family in Costa Rica from the year 2000 to 2019. The study revealed there is a political consensus between neoliberalism and religious fundamentalism, which sustains a conservative notion concerning the nuclear family, based on heterosexual marriage, that holds women responsible of fulfilling the notion’s primary mandate of procreation.
