Sumario:Social inequalities in Latin America are often explained by the insufficient development of institutions, democracy and social policy. This article deals fundamentally with those points of continuity of social inequalities in the region, considered as efficient expressions of forms of domination and political power. It also analyzes how democracy and social policy can be analytically approached from this perspective.
