La salud pública constituye una de las problemáticas de marcada trascendencia en el recorrido de la historia social, por lo que el presente estudio se construye desde un enfoque socio-histórico, ya que esta temática no ha sido lo suficiente abordada desde la historiografía oficial cubana, tópico que contiene implícitamente un enfoque multidisciplinario. Por lo tanto, esta investigación tiene como objetivo valorar el estado de la salud pública en el Bayamo republicano durante los años 1902-1928. Se utilizó la metodología dialéctico materialista, con los métodos histórico-lógico, deductivo-inductivo y análisis-síntesis, con el fin de establecer las particularidades locales del fenómeno. La investigación desarrollada posee alta novedad científica porque permite elucidar una dimensión deprimida de la historia social cubana a partir de una nueva propuesta metodológica.
