La psicología moderna, como especialidad científica-profesional y como saber general popularizado y difundido en el dominio social, se basa en varios supuestos, entre ellos, la distinción de su objeto con respecto a todo lo demás, como el cuerpo y el mundo externo. El presente artículo mostrará cómo esta distinción y otros supuestos psicológicos fueron implícita o explícitamente desafiados, en los años 20 y 30, por ciertas concepciones de inspiración marxista y freudiana que se encuentran en las vanguardias artísticas del surrealismo francés, la corriente poetista-surrealista checa, la antropofagia brasileña y el surrealismo latinoamericano.
