Este artículo1 presenta las cifras absolutas y relativas referentes a los homicidios culpososo imprudentes ocurridos en Costa Rica, durante el periodo 2000-2009, donde se aprecia unleve descenso en la tasa por cien mil habitantes; asimismo, se establece una comparaciónentre la tasa de estos homicidios y las correspondientes a otras formas de muerte violentaen el país. Además, se analizan algunas variables sociodemográficas de las víctimas, destacándosela abrumadora mayoría de hombres, personas jóvenes y costarricenses.
