Sumario:This article presents the most relevant findings of the survey “Perception of the Advantages and Disadvantages of Protecting the Intellectual Property (IP) and the effects of Registering the Innovation IP in the for-profit and non-profit organizations”, conducted in October 2005, among the Costa Rican population. This article also contains viable policies to develop an economic management of the IP transfer and protection, as well as an economic and efficient technology for the organization`s capital growth in response to the Knowledge-based Economy challenges, according to research performed by the Organization of Latin American States for the Education, Science and the Culture (OEI). This survey’s Conceptual Orientation and Methodology was based upon the “Oslo Manual: Proposed Guidelines for Collecting and Interpreting Technological Innovation”, published by the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development).
