Gaia:This article analyzes the use of fear as part of the control strategies and political manipulation,both totalitarian regimes, authoritarian and democratic. It also describes the useof fear as part of the strategies used by parties and candidates during election campaignsin order to win elections. We analyze the case of Mexico’s presidential election of 2006,in which fear was central strategic stroke to win the presidential election by the NationalAction Party (pan) candidate Felipe Calderon Hinojosa. The conclusion is that in modern politics will gain and maintain power beating anyone in articulating strategies and mobilizingpolitical gain the use of fear of the voters.
